Below are the answers to our questionnaire, which helped us determine which conventions of thriller films are most enjoyed by cinema-goers and how best to implement the tastes of our audience into our film. The average age for a respondent was 19 years old and enjoyed adult themes in their thrillers, this let us know that it would be best to make our film an 18- this would also give us more creative control. They also prefer dialog driven plots over action driven ones (though some proffered a blend of the two), but dislike it when the plot is overly convoluted- this was a rule that we tried to keep to in the writing of our film, we wanted a captivating mystery without being un-watchable or losing our audience and felt that though the plot should always be two steps ahead of the audience they should still have an idea of the direction it was going in. Every respondent agreed that they enjoy eerie or mysterious music in their thriller movies which is a popular trope which we aimed to apply to our own film. The audience all agreed that they enjoyed adult topics in their thriller films, which gave us confidence to pursue our own interest in tacking social issues in our film.
